Western Front is excited to participate in the 2025 Vancouver Art Book Fair (VABF)—a free, multi-day celebration of artists’ publishing. Featuring over one hundred local, national, and international publishers, VABF presents a vibrant program of talks, workshops, and artists’ projects.

Visit our table at the Roundhouse Community Centre from Friday, July 4 to Sunday, July 6, 2025, to browse and purchase a selection of Western Front publications, records, and archival posters.

As part of VABF’s programming, current artist-in-residence Rebecca La Marre will also lead a free collaborative art writing and book-making workshop on Sunday, July 6, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. in Roundhouse Room C. Inspired by the surrealist game exquisite corpse, participants will use experimental writing tools and surfaces to create book-works in the form of scrolls, while exploring questions of authorship, embodiment, and the entanglement of language and visual art. A total of 18 workshop spaces are available. Please register in advance here.

In conjunction with the fair, join us on Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Western Front library for the opening of Craft Parlour, a solo exhibition by La Marre. The exhibition explores the intersection of craft and writing, and marks the culmination of her residency at Western Front, during which she led a six-part workshop series with ten participating artists: Rosamunde Bordo, Amelia Butcher, Xinwei Che, Hannah Crosson, Sun Forest, Amy Gogarty, Chloë p.f. Lalonde, Christian Newby, Emiliano Sepulveda, and Julia Wong. Craft Parlour features a series of ceramic writing tablets alongside a new publication of the same name. Co-published with Peripheral Review and designed by Manon Fraser, the publication features contributions from La Marre and the workshop participants, and is available for purchase at Western Front and at the fair for $30.
