Introducing Our New Board Members
Western Front is thrilled to introduce two new members to our Board of Directors — Yasmin Amaratunga and Eric Fredericksen. Both join our board following an open call in mid 2026, and will commence their duties in late September, 2026. We look forward to the diverse experience and leadership they will bring to the governance of Western Front. We welcome you to learn more about our new board members below.
Yasmin Amaratunga
Yasmin Amaratunga is the curator of collections in the Department of Art History, Visual Art and Theory at the University of British Columbia, and is adjunct faculty at the University of Victoria. She holds a PhD from the Courtauld Institute of Art and was a curatorial postdoctoral fellow at the University of Victoria. With over twenty years in museums and academia in the United Kingdom and Canada, she brings experience in strategic planning, policy, and community-engaged curation. She lives and works on the traditional, unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəyəm, Sḵwxwú7mesh, and sƏl̓ílwətaʔɬ Nations, and continues to reflect on her role as an uninvited guest.
Eric Fredericksen
Eric Fredericksen is the public art administrator of the City of Portland Office of Arts & Culture, where he stewards the City’s 1,700-piece collection and guides the Percent for Art program. From 2017 to 2025 he led the public art program at the City of Vancouver, following a stint as waterfront art program manager for the City of Seattle. As the founding director of Western Bridge, Seattle, he organized exhibitions and commissions from 2004 to 2012. He began his career as a writer and editor at Architecture magazine and The Stranger.
