Jin Hi Kim

Bio:

Jin Hi Kim is a musician and composer whose interdisciplinary work innovates on the relationship between Korean classical music and Western avant-garde traditions. A komungo virtuoso, Kim’s work is deeply inspired by Buddhist aesthetics, Korean court rituals, and shamanistic folk music expressions. She is recognized for introducing komungo to the North American contemporary music scene, and for codesigning the world’s first electric komungo with live interactive computer programs. Kim composes work for chamber ensembles, orchestras, film soundtracks, and large-scale multimedia live performances.
