Daniel Laskarin

Bio:

Daniel Laskarin is an artist based in Vancouver, Canada. His object-based practice spans sculpture, photography, robotics systems, installation, sound, projection, set design, and large-scale public commissions. Drawing on his background as a helicopter pilot and engineer in the mountains of British Columbia and the Yukon—where he regularly translated navigational maps into the lived experience of flight—his early work took the form of sculptural and multimedia objects and installations that investigated the structure of perception as a mode of knowledge and consciousness within everyday life.Laskarin’s more recent work marks use of photogrammetry to create 3D models of abandoned sites and developing images and sculptures around the themes of ruin and reclamation.
