Âhasiw Maskêgon-Iskwêw

Bio:

Âhasiw Maskêgon-Iskwêw was a theorist, curator, writer, and artist of Cree/French Métis heritage who played a foundational role in the development of contemporary Indigenous and digital media arts in Canada. Working across performance, video, and net art, Maskêgon-Iskwêw created innovative new media works that integrated video and the internet, and was a strong advocate for community-based media practices. Through their personal practice, exhibitions, critical essays, and community initiatives, Maskêgon-Iskwêw was committed to addressing Indigenous representation, equity, and access within cultural industries and emerging technologies.
