Violet Costello is an artist born in Morpeth, United Kingdom, and based in Calgary, Canada. With a practice incorporating painting, sculpture and installation, Costello’s practice questions the constructs of identity and the nature of representation. A common thread across her work has been a consideration of the children’s world of play—a realm where reality readily gives way to, and is confused with, imagination.
