Adeena Karasick

Bio:

Adeena Karasick is a poet, performer, filmmaker, cultural theorist, and media artist born in Winnipeg, Canada and based in New York, United States. Her work explores the representation of women across history and reimagines the possibilities of the book through hybrid essays, multimedia graphics, and text-driven performance. Engaging the frictions of language, identity, and cultural politics, she has published widely and performed throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Africa. Karasick also lectures internationally on contemporary poetry, poetics, and cultural and semiotic theory, and teaches literature and critical theory in the Humanities and Media Studies Department at Pratt Institute.
