Catherine Jauniaux is an avant-garde vocalist, composer based in Southern France. While growing up in Brussels, Jauniaux’s involvement in theatre led to work as a vocalist with avant-garde rock bands. In the early 1990s, Jauniaux moved to New York City, where she became part of the Downtown music scene, collaborating with experimental musicians, performing as a solo artist, and forming her own group, Jonio. Her work is inspired by traditional music—both real and imagined—and explores emotion, melody, and abstraction through the voice. She regularly collaborates with artists, filmmakers, and dancers.
