Don Thompson is a jazz musician, composer, and arranger born in Powell River, Canada. He began performing in Vancouver in the 1960s before relocating to Toronto, where he became an integral figure in the city’s jazz scene. A versatile multi-instrumentalist, Thompson plays double bass, piano, and vibraphone, and his work spans both popular and avant-garde traditions. Throughout his career, he has performed with and composed for numerous ensembles and orchestras. In 2009, he was appointed an officer of the Order of Canada.
