Join us for a community afternoon tea in celebration of artist Glenn Lewis’s 90th birthday and his extraordinary contributions to our creative community.
We’ll mark this milestone with nine cakes for nine decades alongside tea, coffee, and a pay bar. Drop in anytime between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. to share in the festivities.
In lieu of gifts, Glenn kindly invites you to consider a donation to Western Front, the artist-run centre he helped create. Donations can be made here.
Come raise a cup, and a forkful of cake, in honour of Glenn’s remarkable life and legacy!
Glenn Lewis is an acclaimed artist and educator based in Vancouver, Canada, and a recipient of the Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts. With an artistic background rooted in traditional pottery and sculpture, Lewis also works with photography, film, video, and performance to explore the tensions between conventional objects and art, social obligation and natural instinct, and function and wonder. His wide-ranging practice engages concept, fiction, myth, and community. A pivotal figure in Canadian contemporary art, Lewis was a co-founder of Western Front and an early member of Intermedia.
The Grand Luxe Hall is located on the second floor of Western Front, which is accessed by a flight of 26 stairs. Further details about accessibility at Western Front can be found here.
