Western Front, in partnership with Boombox, is pleased to present Stina Force, the one-woman punk band of choreographer and performance artist Stina Fors.

Stina Force combines explosive drumming and extended vocal techniques—forming death growls, overtone screams, and grotesque spoken-word monologues—into visceral, site-responsive performances. No recordings of her music exist, and no two performances are ever the same, with everything unfolding in the moment. What emerges is an improvisational field of sound and presence, charged with tension, humour, magnetism, and raw energy.

About the Artist

Stina Fors is a performance artist, choreographer, and experimental vocalist based in Vienna, Austria whose practice centres on the voice—its power, its failures, and everything that slips between the two. Working through solo and durational performance, she uses voice, rhythm, and embodiment to explore what happens when speech exceeds intention: as pressure, excess, noise, or unexpected revelation. Her performances are humorous, raw, and risky—built on improvisation, punk energy, and a genuine appetite for the unpredictable. She has presented work internationally, including at the Venice Biennale and the Gwangju Biennale, and is the recipient of the H13 Lower Austria Prize for Performance.

Accessibility

Boombox is a shipping trailer converted into an artist-led performance space. The space is accessed via a set of four steps and is not wheelchair accessible. Gender neutral washrooms are accessible in the adjacent venue, The Birdhouse.

Getting here: Enter from the street entrance on 4th Ave between Ontario St and Manitoba St, through the metal gate of The Birdhouse’s parking lot.

What to expect: The performance is 45 minutes in duration and includes vocalizations and drums at elevated volume levels. Ear protection will be available. At showtime, the doors to the truck will be closed. The space will be low-lit and include haze effects. Those sensitive to loud sound are encouraged to take care.

Seating consists of risers, a bench, and cushions on the floor. If you require seating with back support, options can be arranged upon request by emailing us in advance at info@westernfront.ca.

A cash bar will be open before and after the performance.
