As part of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, please join us for an open rehearsal by participants in The New Improvisers Studio: Alejandro Bryce, Seraphina Crema Black, Kit Colajacomo, Mika Elkuf-Warthe, Emma Engdahl, Ruben Gregg, Olivier Hart, Harmeet Kaur Virdee, Jack Lee, Quinn McDonald, Sebastian Tulai, and Matt Udry.
This open rehearsal concludes a week-long educational initiative supporting young musicians aged 17 to 24 to explore musical improvisation through the mentorship of a world leading improviser and invited guests from the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. This year the Studio is led by the acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily, with invited guests Sakina Abdou, Matthew Ariaratnam, Meredith Bates, Claire Devlin, Aviva Endean, Mili Hong, Sunny Kim, and Peggy Lee.
