Robert Kleyn is an artist, architect, and educator born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and based in Vancouver, Canada. Active in Vancouver’s early photo-conceptual and video art scenes, Kleyn developed a visual arts practice rooted in time-based media, encompassing film and video, photography, slide projections, performance experiments, and architectural interventions. During the 1970s and 1980s, he was based in Rome and New York City, and later held teaching positions at the University of Michigan and the University of Detroit. Since the 2000s, he has worked as Robert Kleyn Architect, focusing on art-related projects.
