Bio:

Bill Viola was an American video artist whose work explored new media technology as a channel to direct experiences of spiritual phenomena. Drawing on both Eastern and Western artistic and spiritual traditions, he created immersive video and sound environments that sought to externalize the inner realm of the unconscious. His practice incorporated large-scale projections, electronic music composition, and television broadcasting.
