Western Front presented a showing of Bill Viola’s fifty-minute video projection work The Passing.
Initiated as a commissioned project about deserts in the United States for German-state television, The Passing continued Viola’s ongoing investigation into the nature of consciousnessness. The work was profoundly influenced by the death of Viola’s mother and the birth of his second child.
The evening included a talk about Viola’s work by film and video critic Deirdre Boyle.
Presented in partnership with Presentation House Gallery, alongside their exhibition Death and the Family.
Curated by Karen Love.
