Susan Howe is a poet and critic based in Guilford, United States. Closely associated with the Language poets, her writing resists conventional literary forms, weaving together quotation, image, and primary historical documents into experimental typographic forms—a sensibility rooted in her early education as a painter. Drawing political, feminist, and social concerns into dialogue with historical research, Howe’s work expands traditional notions of genre and authorship.
