Richard Lerman

Bio:

Richard Lerman was an American composer and sound artist born in San Francisco, United States, recognized for his innovations in field recording and sound technology. His interdisciplinary practice encompassed music composition, film and video, installation, and performance art, often exploring unexpected sonic textures drawn from natural phenomena and everyday materials using custom-built microphones and electronics. Lerman taught at the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston, the Center for Advanced Visual Studies at MIT, and Arizona State University. In 1987, he was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in sound art.
