Michael Snow

Bio:

Michael Snow was a Canadian interdisciplinary artist born in Toronto, Canada whose work spanned experimental film, music, painting, sculpture, photography, sound, video, and holography. Snow's work was concerned with redefining the relationships between various media, the nature of perception and consciousness, and the complex interplay of sound, language and meaning. A trained jazz musician, Snow performed improvised music on piano, trumpet, guitar, and synthesizer, notably as a member of the experimental ensemble Canadian Creative Music Collective (CCMC). A Companion of the Order of Canada and a Chevalier of France’s Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Snow was the first recipient of the Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts.
