Description:
The concert had two sets, Voice Works and 3 Ring Broadcast.
Voice Works was three pieces performed by Teresa Connors and Marguerite Witvoet. It featured vocals, spoken word, electroacoustical sound, and video projection. Witvoet performed “Escalator to Russia” composed by Peter Hannan, Connors performed “Voice Works,” and they performed “Conversations” together.
3 Ring Broadcast by Ya-Wen Vivienne Wang took form as a one-woman circus with music on piano, accordion, and theremin. Wang performed multiple pieces: "Any Resemblance is Purely Coincidental" by Charles Dodge, "Platinum Mastercard" by Lowell Morris, "Nostalgie" by Dieter Schnebel, “Piano Nets” by Dennis Smalley, as well as original compositions. Wang’s interdisciplinary performance combined clowning, spoken word, and live electronics.
This event was part of t a k e a b r o a d v i e w, a music program and festival of musical explorations by women.
