Description:
To celebrate Western Front’s 30th anniversary, a variety show was organized that paid homage to the Cabaret Vulgare series from the 1990s. The evening featured screenings of video work as well as live performance by musicians, spoken word poets, performance artists, and dancers in the Grand Luxe Hall.
John Boehme served as the host and the event featured the Vulgare House Band composed of musicians Lisa Cay Miller, Ron Samworth, Hendrik Greidanus, Skye Brooks, and JP Carter.
The artists who performed or were featured, listed in order of appearance, were: William S. Burroughs; Bonnie Wintur; Dewa Alit and Mark Parlett; Shawn Chapelle; Kevin House; Andrew Czink; Gabriel Alden and Ya-wen Vivienne Wang; Hank Bull and Eric Metcalfe; Rebekah Alden; Alex Varty and Julie Vik; T. Paul St. Marie; Stefan Smulovitz, Chris Kelly, and Odette LeBlanc; The Wet Spots; Andrew Olweine; Giorgio Magnanensi and Ryan Parchanski; Rachel Iwaasa; François Houle, Paul Plimely, and Stefan Smulovitz; Sheri D. Wilson; with Stefan Smulovitz’s “Godzilla Monster Mash” conducted by Giorgio Magnanensi as the final act.
