Vanalyne Green’s one-woman performance Trick or Drink confronts her experience as the child of addicts and her own struggles with disordered eating. Drawing a parallel between these two illnesses, Green’s monologue is structured around epistolary texts and confessional prose that mirrors the format and language of an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Reflecting on feelings of shame, desire, and relapse, Green confronts the intergenerational impact of addiction and its manifestation in her own body and habits.
