Description:
Alec Roth presented a talk in the Grand Luxe Hall on his work composing and conducting the Vancouver Community Gamelan for a production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest at Simon Fraser University’s Centre for the Arts. His reflections on new Javanese music for gamelan were interspersed with audio recordings of gamelan performances.
