Description:

News From Europe is a two-part video work by Fabio Mauri produced while in residence at Western Front. 

In the first part of the work, Mauri’s chest acts as the projection surface for a black-and-white silent-film about Joan of Arc. He wears a blue button-up, which is depicted in various states of fastening throughout this portion of the video. 

The second part of the video, titled Vegetables, also foregrounds the artist’s shirt, framing Mauri’s torso as he holds a variety of vegetables. Meanwhile, voice-over narration by Hank Bull, Carol Hackett, and Elizabeth Van Der Zaag offers musings on European identity, youth, happiness, and gravity.
