Kate Craig’s twelve-minute video opens with the question: “What is the dividing line between public and private?” Muffled breath loops in the background as a voice queries personal boundaries and the limits of optics—on the level of visual and social perception, mediated through both the human eye and the video camera. Delicate Issue offers an uncompromising, micro-examination of Craig’s body to consider the relationship between the artist, the audience, and the camera. This intimate proximity blurs Craig’s skin, hair, limbs, and orifices into abstraction, making it difficult to discern which body parts are being represented.
