Location:

Grand Luxe Hall, Western Front

Description:

Sawdust Collector’s biannual New Works series invites musicians, dancers, poets, and artists to perform together, encouraging unexpected collaborations and interaction between different creative communities in Vancouver. This performance in the Grand Luxe Hall invited three different artists and their collaborators to present works in progress, providing an opportunity to share and experiment with new ideas in public. Singer-songwriter Veda Hille and playwright Amiel Gladstone were joined by Marin Patenaude, Molly MacKinnon, and Tegan Wahlgren to present songs from a new musical in progress. Ziyian Kwan was joined by James Meger on standup bass to share stories about her grandmothers in an exploration of matrilineage. Lucien Durey was joined by Chance Lovett and Manda Sum for an embodied call-and-response with live singing and recorded video. The evening closed with a performance by Corbin Murdoch, who premiered a new series of songs and short essays.

Video documentation of this event is available upon request.
