Description:

Sḵwx̱wú7mesh storyteller Salia Joseph and Cree-Métis poet Samantha Nock co-authored "A Reply in Three Parts" (2018) in response to their talk Past is Prologue: 20 years of COSMOSQUAW that was presented at Western Front as part of Recollective: Vancouver Independent Archives Week

Their response takes the form of a personal email exchange, reflecting on the work of Cree/Saulteaux/Métis artist Lori Blondeau housed in the Western Front archives. Nock also includes a new poem called “Vicks,” which celebrates the Indigenous mothers, kokums, and aunties in her life as a gesture to subvert the burden of representation Indigenous women bear.

Presented as part of Recollective: Vancouver Independent Archives Week, with support from Canada Council for the Arts.
