Description:

Adults Are So Last Year was an event that invited kids of all ages to collaborate with artists and musicians in a series of activities, games, and projects exploring media art, music, and visual art.

Lianne Zannier and Heather Kai Smith led a workshop focusing on hand-drawn animation, while showcasing how to create an early animation toy from the nineteenth century called a thaumatrope. The workshop resulted in a collaborative film that was generated throughout the day.

Alanna Ho led activities on creating graphic scores and making music with vintage analogue toys. Ho also facilitated a sound table where kids could explore tiny sounds encountered in the everyday, while Derya Akay and Vivienne Bessette facilitated a fabric dying station using flowers and natural dyes.

The event also featured roving sets by Greenhorn Community Music Project outside of Western Front and around Guelph Park, and a barbeque on the back deck with hot dogs and ice cream.

Presented with the support of G&F Financial Group, Buy Low Foods, D-Original Sausage, Earnest Ice Cream.
