Description:

Presented in partnership with PuSh International Performing Arts Festival, Eternal was a two-channel screening installation directed by Daniel Fish. The work presents documentation of two actors performing the final lines of Charlie Kaufman’s 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in a continuous two-hour loop. What at first appears to be a meditation on love evolves over the course of the screening to foreground an experience of time. Within a seemingly endless repetition, the actors’ work becomes a meditation on cinema’s processes and an experiment of improvisational theatre.

Eternal was commissioned by Incubator Arts Project, New York City, and developed through residencies at LMCC Arts Centre at Governors Island, New York, and The Bushwick Starr, Brooklyn.
