Postcript on "i'm that angel"

May 28, 2015
Field:

Talk

Location:

Grand Luxe Hall, Western Front

Time:

8:00 p.m.

Description:

Artist in residence Tyler Coburn shared images and stories from i’m that angel (2011), a book intended to be performed in data centres worldwide. The project explores the conditions of how we work on and against the computer, narrated from the perspective of a “content farmer”—an emergent type of online journalist contracted to generate articles based on words peaking in Google Trends.

His talk in the Grand Luxe Hall reflected on his practice by giving context to the content farming industry, cloud-based infrastructures, his concept of future realism, and the role of data centres in the ever-expanding physical Internet. Coburn concluded his presentation with a short reading from i’m that angel.
