Description:

Faun Fables is a category-defying musical entity realized by Dawn McCarthy’s vivid imagination come to life in song and theatre. The ensemble at the time included violinist Meredith Yaynos and multi-instrumentalist Kirana Peyton, with appearances by longtime collaborator Nils Frykdahl of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum.

The performance combined haunting melodies, breath, stomping, and natural theatricality led by the voice and rooted in the physical body. The compositions offered a crossroads of ancient ballad, art song, physical theatre, and rock music, while McCarthy's lyrics reflected on themes of rugged housekeeping, street kids, aging, sleepwalking, and exiled travellers returning home.

Presented in partnership with the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival.
