Talk by Jim Andrews and Lionel Kearns

Nov 16, 2004
Field:

Talk

Location:

Western Front

Description:

Western Front hosted artists Jim Andrews and Lionel Kearns for a talk as part of an external Upgrade! Vancouver program organized by Kate Armstrong.

Andrews and Kearns led a discussion on life, poetry, and the past. Andrews presented his piece On Lionel Kearns, a binary meditation in Shockwave.

Andrews worked with texts, visual poems, and animated poetry videos by Kearns that were written and produced from the early sixties through the mid-eighties. On Lionel Kearns was a tribute to Kearns's polyartistic synthesis of arts, media, language and the binary, and is an attempt to extend Kearns's experimental poetics into the contemporary landscape of software art.
