Description:

Milk on the Dining Room Floor is a twenty-minute video by Cornelia Wyngaarden produced while in residence at Western Front.

Set against a pastoral backdrop reminiscent of en plein air traditions, a conversation between three people unfolds about what it would take to bring the Aurora Borealis to more densely populated equatorial latitudes. This speculative dialogue is set against footage from a dairy farm and a recurring motif of milk being poured into a glass. Juxtaposing romanticized visions of agriculture with subatomic anxieties, the film serves as a meditation on the reasonable causes for technophobia. The video is structured as a non-narrative visual poem complete with computerized special effects and a piano soundtrack by Tomas Wong that becomes increasingly modulated throughout.

Milk on the Dining Room Floor was produced with special thanks to David Gibbons, Chick Rice, and Avalon Dairies.

Video documentation is available upon request.
