Projects

May 11 — 29, 1988
Field:

Exhibition

Location:

Gallery, Western Front

Description:

Projects was an installation by Daniel Congdon that comprised two projection units set within temporary walls constructed in the gallery space. The projection units displayed a diptych of images: a plaza in front of a skyscraper and a highly polished lobby interior with a view onto a street. The title of the exhibition, Projects, connotes the meaning of the noun, a plan or scheme—as well as the verb, to cast light and shadow on a surface.

Projects continued Congdon’s ongoing investigations into aspects of cinema, such as the nature of projected imagery and the illusionistic construction of space.

An opening reception was held on May 10, 1988.
