The Vancouver Suite

Description:

The Vancouver Suite was a concert-long composition for strings rehearsed, performed, and recorded by Darius Jones while in residence at Western Front. Expanding on work previously developed during a residency at Western Front in 2019, The Vancouver Suite is dedicated to Vancouver’s physical environment, its audiences, and most specifically, four of its string players: cellist Peggy Lee, bassist James Meger, and violinists Jesse Zubot and Josh Zubot. The public was invited to a series of open rehearsals to witness the musicians’ process as they prepared for a recording and performance of The Vancouver Suite alongside jazz drummer Gerald Cleaver at The Ironworks during the 2022 TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
