Description:
A talk with Western Front artist-in-residence Chris Lee that addressed his research as a graphic designer and arts educator. During his hour-long presentation, Lee traced the a-historical relationship between typography and money to explore and how these forms of notation lead to the sedimentation of memory. From clay tablets to cryptocurrency, Lee discussed the material and technical methods of designing, printing, and inscribing currency to propose an undoing of the linear chronology of conquest, property, and inheritance.
The talk closed with a question and answer period.
