Description:
Charlene Vickers (electronics/vocals), Chad MacQuarrie (guitar/vocals), and Scott Rabo Ritchie (drums/vocals) of the experimental post-punk band Assertion performed in the gallery to accompany Maria Hupfield's exhibition John Hupfield’s Woodlands Indian Art + West Coast Indian Art.
Vickers began the performance by introducing a mask from her family to the audience, explaining it was the mask’s first time in public, before reading a collection of original poems. Working across percussion, electronics, guitar, and vocals the trio presented a forty-five minute set of improvised music in dialogue with the objects in the space.
