Description:

Transforming text and tone, and traversing paths from sacred to the scandalous, this concert featured live and archival recordings of works from composers alcides lanza and Meg Sheppard, Kathy Kennedy, Eric Paul, Zoltán Pongrácz, and Barry Truax. 

Barry Truax performed his composition “TEMPLE,” evoking an inner space of vast dimensions with an octophonic arrangement of choral voices from the cathedral of San Bartolomeo.

In “Sisters,” Kathy Kennedy took a journey into the world of her elderly aunts, who have spent their entire lives in religious orders.

Eric Paul’s “Lenny” was an octophonic composition with short excerpts of the stand-up comedy of Lenny Bruce.

“ekphonesis” was composed and performed by alcides lanza with vocalist Meg Sheppard.

Alongside the live performances, a recording of “‘Madrigal” by Zoltán Pongrácz from Western Front’s archive was also presented as part of the program.
