Taking its name from the celebrated thirteenth-century mathematician whose theories and discoveries so profoundly influenced compositional techniques, the Trio Fibonacci is dedicated to the performance of twentieth-century repertoire, particularly the new music of contemporary Canadian composers.
The ensemble performers were Julie-Anne Derome (violin), Gabriel Prynn (cello), and André Ristic (piano), and were joined by François Houle (clarinet).
They performed Ana Sokolovic’s Secret de polichinelle (1995), Tōru Takemitsu’s Quatrain II (1977), and Olivier Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time (1941).
Co-presented with Vancouver New Music.
