4 Plays

Description:

4 Plays was a performance by Randy Gledhill composed of a series of tableaux staged on the periphery of the Grand Luxe Hall. Over the course of an hour, a spotlight pans the room in a slow circle, illuminating actors, sculptural assemblages, furniture, and an assortment of props. 

The video document, filmed by Glenn Lewis, is interspersed with stills taken by Warren Knetchel, and closes with a slideshow  of photos from the performance set to Nico’s “Das Lied Der Deutschen” (1974).  ​​​​​Sound design by Myra Knetchtel includes a consistent ticking sound layered with intermittent reading, crying, laughter, and music.
