Days Without Singing was a multimedia performance by Neo-Nativists—the collaboration of emerging Indigenous artists Warren Arcand, Leonard Fisher, and Russell Wallace. Rooted in stories drawn from lived experience, the work combined spoken word with pop music, traditional drumming, choreography, and theatrical lighting design to create a barometer of contemporary Indigenous experience. Through this process, the artists sought to describe lived realities, challenge stereotypes, and push beyond imposed limitations through imagination.
The title, Days Without Singing, marks the point of departure for a piece seeking to transcend constraint. The work explores the power of naming, where singing becomes a way of giving voice and presence.
