Stephen O’Connell’s interdisciplinary performance The Surveyor was a personal inquiry that established an implicit relationship between the artist and war criminal Borislav Herak. This exploration unfolded within a domestic set constructed inside the Grand Luxe Hall.
By juxtaposing the mundane with the profane, the work negotiated questions of personal responsibility in relation to contemporary world events and lived experience. Formally, The Surveyor examined the expansive possibilities of interdisciplinary performance, integrating film, theatre, sound, video, and movement within a single event.
