Andrew James Paterson’s Performance: A Performance humorously and critically explored the dynamics between performer and audience, self and others, and other relational binaries. Presented as a simulated television broadcast, Paterson performed a variety of roles, beginning as Professor Wordsworth—a fictional media artist and authority on language, who delivered a lecture on performance as theatre, ritual, discourse, obligation, and role-play. The work continued through a series of live and pre-recorded video segments in which Paterson appeared as different characters, extending his reflections on the nature and function of performance.
