Description:
As a part of the That ’70s Ho: A Celebration of Women and Performance Circa 1970 performance series, Linda Montano hosted a workshop that was inspired by her Blindfold series.
Spanning three days, the workshops were split into two sessions: “Resting/Silence” in the morning and “Resting/Laughing” in the afternoon.
To facilitate rest, participants brought their own blankets and pillows to lay down on the floor of the Grand Luxe Hall, and were blindfolded for the duration of the workshop. Montano—blindfolded as well—led the group through exercises including lying silently, responding to conversational prompts, and laying hands on each other while being anointed with holy water. To shift to a more playful tone, participants were also instructed to vocalize, laugh, and respond to music.
