Concert by Daniel Menche and Chris Kelly

Oct 12, 2007
Field:

Concert, Performance

Location:

Grand Luxe Hall, Western Front

Time:

8:00 p.m.

Description:

Introduced by Ben Wilson, the concert began with a twenty-minute, highly amplified and processed electronic noise set by Chris Kelly that pushed the spectrum of frequencies to its limits.

Daniel Menche began his highly corporeal set seated on the floor of the Grand Luxe Hall. Starting from a resonant and subdued aural state, Menche began layering sounds with manipulations with a contact microphone, a simple flute, rope, a sound bowl, his voice, and the floor itself culminating in a crashing and absorbing soundscape. Menche’s performance continued his exploration of the boundaries of noise, ritual, and dark ambient.

Presented in partnership with the LIVE Performance Art Biennale.
