Movementarts

Description:

Filmed in the EDAM studio, Movementarts is a series of solo danceworks by Jane Ellison, Michael Brodie, and Lola Ryan that experiment with the choreography of the camera. 

An early example of the collaboration between media and dance, Movementarts emerged from a series of dance classes hosted by Western Front and Vancouver Community College from 1977 to 1982 that explored movement, mime, and contact improvisation. The video document was created as part of a Canada Council for the Arts explorations grant for experimentation with movement and video.
