Katrina Krimsky was a pianist, composer, and improviser based in San Francisco, United States. Her work integrated training in the European classical tradition with influences from jazz and world music. In the 1960s, her interest in the avant-garde took her to Cologne, Germany, where she developed relationships with European composers through recitals of twentieth-century piano music. After returning to the United States, she became a regular performer with the Centre of the Creative and Performing Arts Ensemble at SUNY Buffalo and joined the music faculty at Mills College. Over the course of her career, Krimsky performed widely in the United States and Europe.
