Rita McKeough

Bio:

Rita McKeough is an artist based in the Treaty 7 area of southern Alberta, Canada, on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3). Her performances and installations are often immersive, collaborative efforts that reconfigure contradictions and tensions in everyday life. McKeough consistently works from a feminist perspective with a focus on issues such as displacement, domestic abuse, and ecological damage caused by resource extraction. She feels fortunate to have the support of her community to produce her work and offers respect and gratitude to everyone who has helped her.
