Peter Weibel

Bio:

Pieter Weibel was an Austrian artist, curator, and new media theorist. His early work focused on visual poetry and later moved into an engagement with installation, performance, computer art, and new media. Influenced by semiotic and linguistic considerations, his performative actions examined the media of language and the body in relation to film, video, tape, and interactive electronic environments. In his academic work, Weibel advocated for art historical methodologies that took into account the history of technology and the history of science.He held the position of director at the ZKM Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe.
