Lisa Steele is an artist, curator, and educator born in Kansas City, United States, based in Toronto, Canada. Recognized as a leading Canadian video artist, her practice also involves performance, installation, and photo/text works. Since the early 1980s, Steele has collaborated exclusively with her partner Kim Tomczak, and together, their work has examined themes of fear, faith, love, and the power of society over individual freedom. Together, they founded the artist-run video art distributor Vtape, Toronto.
