Paul Chan is from Hong Kong and based in New York, United States. From the outset of his career, Chan has worked simultaneously as a political activist and an artist. He draws on a wealth of cultural touchstones—from classical philosophy to modern literature, critical theory, and hip hop—to produce works that respond to current political and social realities.
